Trypanozoon subgenus
Description
The TrySub dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Trypanozoon subgenus (T. evansi, T. brucei, T. equiperdum) detection by using qPCR. Trypanosomes are single-celled, eukaryotic parasites of mammalian bloodstreams that are a major health and economic burden on communities with endemic circulating strains. The subgenus Trypanozoon is composed by the species Trypanosoma brucei, responsible of nagana and sleeping sickness; T. evansi, causes surra; and T. equiperdum which causes horse dourine. The Trypanozoon taxa is morphologically indistinguishable, with the main differences between them being the host or the insect vector that enables their distribution.
