Turkey astrovirus 2
Description
The TAstV-2 dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Turkey astrovirus 2 detection by using qPCR. Turkey astrovirus 2 is a non-enveloped virus with a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA genome belonging to the Avastrovirus genus. These pathogens are often found infecting turkeys in poultry farms, causing symptoms such as growth depression, decreased thymus size, and enteric infections in birds. Although primarily avian pathogens, they are capable of causing disease in humans if contaminated meat is consumed, leading to symptoms such as watery diarrhoea, vomiting, and headache. The existing subtypes of Turkey astrovirus are classified based on their capsid genes.
