The VibCho dtec-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for detection of Vibrio cholerae strains by using qPCR. Vibrio cholerae is aGram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, comma-shapedbacterium, and has a flagellumat one cell pole.Some strains of V.choleraecause the diseasecholera.V. choleraewas first isolated as the cause ofcholeraby Italian anatomist Filippo Paciniin 1854, but his discovery was not widely known untilRobert Koch published the knowledge and the means of fighting the disease.
