Yersinia pestis
Description
The YerPes dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Yersinia pestis detection by using qPCR. Yersinia pestis, belonging to the Yersiniaceae family, is a gram-negative bacterium responsible for the disease known as plague. This pathogen primarily affects rodents but can be transmitted to humans through bites from infected fleas or direct contact with infected animals. Yersinia pestis is notorious for causing severe outbreaks, including the bubonic and pneumonic forms of plague, characterized by symptoms such as fever, swollen lymph nodes, and respiratory distress. The bacterium is distributed globally, with notable prevalence in regions of Africa, Asia, and America.
