Avian leukosis virus subgroup A
Description
The ALV-A RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Avian leukosis virus subgroup A detection by using qPCR. Avian leukosis virus belongs to a family of viruses called retroviruses, single-stranded RNA enveloped viruses. Infection in chickens is known to induce increased mortality, tumours, delayed growth, and suboptimal egg production. Avian leukosis virus have been divided into 10 envelope subgroups, A through J, based on host range, receptor interference patterns, and neutralization by antibodies. The subgroup A is characterized by its ability to cause lymphoid tumors and other neoplastic conditions. The virus is transmitted horizontally through infected birds and vertically via contaminated eggs.
