Avian Enteric Virus
Description
The Avian-Enteric RT-qPCR Panel-4 comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Avian reovirus, Rotavirus type A, Avastrovirus 1, and Turkey astrovirus 2 detection by using qPCR. Avian reovirus, Rotavirus type A, Avastrovirus 1, and Turkey astrovirus 2, are diverse RNA viruses that affect the gastrointestinal tract of poultry. Avian reovirus belongs to the Orthoreovirus genus of the Spinareoviridae family and is often associated with malabsorption syndrome and enteritis in young birds. Rotavirus A belongs to the Rotavirus genus of the Sedoreoviridae family, contributing to diarrhoea and poor growth in poultry flocks.
Avastrovirus 1 and Turkey astrovirus 2 belong to the Astroviridae family and are associated with enteric disorders such as runting-stunting syndrome and enteritis, particularly in young turkeys and chickens. These viruses primarily affect domestic poultry, causing clinical signs such as diarrhoea, dehydration, uneven growth and increased mortality in severe cases. Transmission is typically faecal-oral, with rapid spread in densely populated flocks. These viruses are globally distributed and pose a significant threat to poultry health and production.
