Equine herpesvirus 1
Description
The EHV-1 epPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Equine herpesvirus 1 detection by using epPCR. Equine herpesvirus 1 is a DNA virus, with the DNA genome enclosed by an icosohedral capsid surrounded by a tegument layer and an outer membrane, also known as the virion envelope. EHV-1 belongs to the family Herpesviridae that causes abortion, respiratory disease and occasionally neonatal mortality in horses. Together with EHV-4, are known to produce the equine rhinopneumonitis. Because their ability to target multiple organs systems, EHV-1 is the most costly virus to the equine industry.
