The OPXV&MCV qPCR Duplex comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Orthopoxvirus and Molluscum contagiosum virus  detection by using multiplexed qPCR. Orthopoxvirus and Molluscum contagiosum virus are enveloped viruses with double-stranded DNA genomes that belong to the family Poxviridae. Orthopoxvirus is a genus of viruses that includes notable members such as Variola virus, Vaccinia virus, Cowpox virus and Monkeypox virus. Molluscum contagiosum virus belongs to the genus Molluscipoxvirus. These viruses cause distinct diseases in humans, including smallpox and monkeypox, which are caused by orthopoxviruses, and molluscum contagiosum, a skin infection caused by Molluscum contagiosum virus. Clinical manifestations of Orthopoxvirus infections typically include systemic symptoms such as fever and malaise followed by a progressive pustular rash, whereas Molluscum contagiosum virus infection presents with localized, dome-shaped, umbilicated papules on the skin. Transmission occurs through direct contact, respiratory droplets, or contaminated materials for Orthopoxvirus, and mainly through skin-to-skin contact or fomites for Molluscum contagiosum virus.
