Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus type 1&2
Description
The PRRSV-1&2 RT-qPCR Duplex comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus type 2 and Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus type 1 detection by using multiplexed qPCR. Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus is a small, enveloped RNA virus that contains a single-stranded, positive-sense, 15 Kb RNA genome, and belongs to the genus Arterivirus, family Arteriviridae.
PRRSV causes a disease of pigs, called porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome, also known as blue-ear pig disease, characterized by reproductive failure in breeding stock and respiratory tract illness in young pigs. According to the characteristics of their genome, PRRSV can be divided into two genotypes: European (type 1) and the North American (type 2). Despite their significant differences in antigenic properties and genetic content, both genotypes cause similar syndromes.
