Chlamydia psittaci

Description

The ChlPsi epPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Chlamydia psittaci detection by using epPCR. Chlamydia psittaci (also referred as Chlamydophila psittaci) are Gram-negative, spherical, intracellular parasites from the family Chlamydiaceae. Usually affects birds and may manifest itself as an upper respiratory infection with nasal or ocular discharge, diarrhea, or a combination of all three. A major concern with Chlamydia psittaci is the zoonotic potential of the organism (capable of produce human infections) and being also one of the major causes of infectious abortion in sheep and cattle.
