Burkholderia mallei

Description

The BurMal dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Burkholderia mallei detection by using qPCR. Burkholderia mallei is a Gram-negative, non-motile, aerobic bacterium belonging to the Burkholderiaceae family. B. mallei is responsible for causing glanders disease, which historically affected mostly animals, such as horses, mules, and donkeys, and rarely humans. Despite other host, horses are considered the natural host, affecting lungs and airways. B. mallei has been eradicated in most Western countries, but still affects animals in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Central America, and South America.
