Dengue virus
Description
The DENV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Dengue virus detection by using qPCR. Dengue virus is a positive-sense single-stranded RNA virus of the Flaviviridae family that causes dengue fever. Symptoms of dengue virus infection include high fever, headache, vomiting, bodyache, and skin rash; sometimes, the disease can evolve to dengue haemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome. The virus is spread by female mosquitoes of the Aedes genus and it is endemic in regions of Africa, America, the Eastern Mediterranean, South-East Asia and the West Pacific. Dengue virus has been increasing for the last 20 years, but since a vast majority of cases are mild or asymptomatic, actual numbers of dengue cases are under-reported.
