Description
The EBV dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Epstein-Barr virus detection by using qPCR. Epstein-Barr virus, also known as human gammaherpesvirus 4, is a double-stranded DNA virus which belongs to the family Herpesviridiae. It spreads most commonly through bodily fluids, especially saliva. Additionally, Epstein-Barr virus can also spread through blood, semen, and organ transplantations. Epstein-Barr virus has been described as one of the most common human viruses in the world and can cause infectious mononucleosis and other illnesses. Most people will get infected with Epstein-Barr virus and persists lifelong in individuals. Primary infection is usually asymptomatic, but reactivation has been shown to occur in a subset of individuals linked to autoimmune diseases and cancers.
