Gallid alphaherpesvirus 1
Description
The GaHV-1 dtec-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Gallid alphaherpesvirus 1 detection by using qPCR. Gallid alphaherpesvirus 1 is a DNA virus of the family Herpesviridae, capable of causing avian infectious laryngotracheitis. This disease affects chickens, causing symptoms such as coughing, sneezing, head shaking, lethargy, and discharge from the eyes and nostrils. Transmission occurs via inhalation of droplets or fomites. It has been recognized as one of the most contagious illnesses in the poultry industry, potentially fatal for affected individuals. A vaccine is available, but it does not prevent latent infections, and it is susceptible to undesired recombination.
