Orthobornavirus betapsittaciforme
Description
The OrtBV-BetaPsi dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of specific targeted reagents designed for Orthobornavirus betapsittaciforme detection by using qPCR. Orthobornavirus betapsittaciforme (Parrot bornavirus 5 and 6) is a virus in the Orthobornavirus genus capable of infecting a wide range of parrots. These viruses are enveloped and spherical, with negative single-stranded RNA linear genomes. Infection causes proventricular dilatation disease, an illness characterised by inflammation of the intestinal nervous ganglia and variable concurrent encephalitis and myelitis. The clinical outcome varies from inapparent to fatal neuropathic disease. Horses, sheep, cattle, rodents, reptiles, and humans are also natural hosts.
