Peste-des-petits-ruminants virus
Description
The PPRV dtec-RT-qPCR comprises a series of species-specific targeted reagents designed for Peste-des-petits-ruminants virus detection by using qPCR. Peste-des-petits-ruminants virus is a negative-sense, single-stranded RNA virus of the genus Morbillivirus, responsible of the peste des petits ruminants disease of sheep and goats. Illness and death can be high (>90%) when peste des petits ruminants occurs in populations of immunologically naive sheep and goats. Mortality rates are 10% to 40% in disease-endemic areas. Peste des petits ruminants has shown rapid spread throughout large areas of Africa and Asia. A unique serotype of PPRV circulates and is classified into 4 genetically distinct lineages with important economic effects.
